My '96 A6 Wagon's suspension squeaks like a cheap motel room bed, especially in the rear. (there's a joke in there somewhere). Is there any way that I can use some kind of silicone based spray or anything else to lube whatever is making all the noise? Is it the bushings?

Get your rear control arms checked... I had an issue there when it squeeked!!

Bushings wear out, metal-on-metal rub... squeak. Replace control arms (camber link). About $80 each.

There are links in the rear suspension, names of which I forget. Basically, if you manage to have your car up, try moving rear wheels from side to side. Grab it at the lowest point and just move it left and right (and a little bit up and down). The links that are worn out are in the upper suspension.

I tried spraying WD40, and it worked for only 1 day, 2 days at most.

Those are actually outer tie rods. Remembered now.
