Default Stereo

92 100cs. I have decided to replace my gamma stero. i am going to leave the back speakers in, replace the fronts and the head unit. I would like to not spend more than $170 on the headunit and stay with the red OEM look. i basically need some suggestions as to what i should do with this. i know that i will need pre-amp outs to go to the rear deck, but since i am ditching the $600 (a peice!) bose speakers up front, i could use the head unit amp to power them. what should i do with those tweeters up front? thanks in advance for your input, it is greatly needed!

Default More Stereo

Another question to this. Should i stick with the Bose rear amp and speakers? The amp is $182 refurbished. I could go to circuit city and get a decent amp for $150, albeit a larger one. I am just concerned about the eq-ing that might be built into the current amp that may not sound right with the new head unit up front. I am also having trouble getting into the front door to remove/bypass the front speaker for the new head unit. Suggestions please

Default Here is my Sony Xplod in a 92 100

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/34113/audi100c.jpg"></center><p>Hi VT 100CS,

My gamma died and replaced with a Sony Xplod (red lighting to match). I left all the speakers in and just had to bypass the amp for the back speakers. Worked like a champ. I had it installed and required 3 different adaptors 2 VW wire adaptors and 1 antenna adaptor.

Take a look.

Thanks for your help. Are the fronts not amplified? I thought they had individual amps that had to be bypassed as well. Is there enough power going to the rears to keep the bass comparable to the Bose system?

My fronts with the Gamma radio was not amplified but you should check yours. I have great base with the Sony and red and white lighting so looks good.

Default Front speakers

I just bypassed my front speaker electronics. The wires go right from the head unit to the speakers. I figured out how to remove the door panels from this site, then took apart the bose unit until i figured out what was going where. put it all back together. the door shuts and locks, and all the window switches work. woo hoo. if anybody else is doing this please email me or post.
