Stereo replacement

i have a 1992 audi 100 s and i am replacing the rear speakers, and the new mounting harness is different from the stock one, and i do not know which wires, the brown ones or the white ones, are + or -. I do not what to connect the + and - wrong and damage my expensive new speakers, anyone with knowledge as to the wiring please help

reversing the positive and negative wires wont necessarly damage your speakers.. the sound will jsut be off..for example, there will be no bass. connect it one way and test it out, then try reversing them to see which way works better

maybe i missed something.. but are you just replacing your old stock speakers?? have you not run new wires and put a new head in?? our stock speakers run off of different ohms than normal speakers and will not sound great at all.. plus if your getting rid of the stock amp then it wont do much good what speakers your putting in there! im not sure if the 100/a6 faq has info on speakers but if you do a search in this forum for speaker replacement and such you can find out a lot of helpful info on our stupid speaker system
but if you have already put a new head, black is negative and white is positive.. or sometimes.. green i think is positive on vw's.. im not sure.. just hook em up and see which one has better overall sound and bass and thats the right way
