Stereo Upgrade
My stock stereo in the A6 is on it's way out. The rear deck speakers rattle obnoxiously with moderate volume and 50% or higher bass. The music sounds airy and monotonous.
I'm just wondering who here has done any modifications to their car's audio, and if so, what have you done? What wattage are your subs/speakers? I'd like to have a bit better sounding stereo, but keep it fairly conservative; nothing too fancy or ridiculious.
Would I be able to replace the rear deck speakers with aftermarket and still use the gamma headunit?
Or, is the entire system going to need upgrading if I desire to replace the speakers?

To stop the rear deck vibration, I used some flat rubber pieces...
between contacting surfaces. I also stuffed some cloths under the rear deck to further stop vibration. There are holes in the steel in the trunk that allow you to get to the deck.
My Bose stereo still sounds suprisingly good. Good enough for now...

Here's what I did...
Concert radio
MB Quart QSC210 4" components up front
JL 300/4 Amp
Phatnoise
I'll use the extra channels on the amp to power some rear speakers for better midbass eventually. I probably would have just added the concert and phatnoise to the stock Bose speakers if the wiring was still there.
Definitly not overkill, I'm sure most people would never believe it's not stock.
