Switch Climate control to manual???

Switch Climate control to manual???
My 92 100CSQ is having a climate control problem(See a few posts down), no vent motor or temp control. One dealer thinks it is the controler, another thinks it's the motors. I know the motors are a common problem. Big time to get them out and change them. What about switching to the manual system?? Anyone made the switch.
