Default Timing Belt - '96 A6 2.6ltr AFC engine

Hi guys

Brand new to the forum and need a little advise.

I am hoping you can point me the the right direction for instructions to replace timing belt plus other components.

I have just bought a '96 A6 C4 sedan with the 2.6ltr AFC engine (I'm in Australia).

I am considering Blau Parts timing belt kit and will also need to source the cam and crank holder tools.

So, is there a write up here on the Forums? Is the Blau parts kit a good way to go?

Any guidance you can help with is very much appreciated.

Welcome. Check the www.12V.org site or the FAQs thread here (you'll need to search for the C4 FAQ thread) for timimg belt maintenance instructions (note these instructions will be for 2.8L V6, but should be very simiar to your 2.6L V6). Don't know if Blau kits are good, but many have used them here on this forum (check the C5 forum - there is arecent thread for timimg belt maintenance using a Blau kit).

Thanks A6Gary

I appreciate your help.

One other thing - is there a site I can submit VIN and Engine number to find part numbers??

Correct me if I`m wrong, but the AFC engine is 2.8 litre? The ABC is 2.6 litre. Anyways, they are quite similar.

Take a look at this guide I made a while ago. It`s in Norwegian, but put it through google translate or take a look at the pics.

Not that I am aware of. Best way to obtain P/Ns, is to buy a copy of ETKA and install it on your computer. It is the same software used by the dealer. ETKA can be purchased on eBay.
