Default torque converter issue

does the 96 have known trans. issues? if you just cruise its fine but when im on the interstate and put the foot down it will go up to 4000 rpms and and then back down to 3300rpms and take off.

i got new fluid to do a flush but i know its not the tranny it shifts wonderful and its only when its under full load. anyone else have torque converter issues... ever?
any recommendations? bring it to a shop for a full flush of the system?

Default You logic is flawed.

Start by pulling codes and checking fluid level.

Default There's no dipstick, you level the car, run the engine until the ATF is at 34-40C & ...

Take out the side fill plug on the trans pan. Fluid should just dribble out.

Check the FAQ's for more details on trans service.

Have to put the car up on a lift to get to the side fill plug on the trans pan.

Default "and my logic isnt flawed" Can you explain?

"i know its not the tranny it shifts wonderful and its only when its under full load"

All you know is that the tranny shifts well under load.

"All you know is that the tranny shifts well under load." this is not what i said.

i said when you drive "normal" or "casually" it shift and drives fine.

when you get on the interstate and you are doing 60 and then you mat it it will downshift to third and the rpms will spike up to 4000 and then back down to 3300 and take off almost like its slipping the clutch pack, but i would more say its the torque converter because it doesnt do it when its not floored it shifts fine. because your not "torquing
the engine.

i dont know how to explain it any better then that
thanks
