Default tranny flush at local shop

I am considering having a local shop do a flush and re-fill on the tranny. They charge $80 for the service and use Mighty products. This service includes the flush and conditioner chemicals from Mighty. Doe anyone here have experience with these products in their Audi tranny?

What trans fluid have people here used - other than Pentosin?<ul><li><a href="http://www.mightyautoparts.com/products/products_vs7.html#trans">Mighty transmission chemicals</a></li></ul>

Change fluid and filter, no flushing.

Default ^^Agreed. I'm not into the flush thing, or the addition of wizbang chemicals.

Imagine where you'll be if their flush machine disturbed some particle of whatever that's been happily stuck somewhere not bothering anybody. And imagine if that chemical relocates somewhere else and you wind up with a drivability issue as a result.

Guess what the shop is going to say when you come back and tell them "It wasn't doing this before you guys flushed it." I assure you it won't be "No problem sir. We'll replace that transmission for free. Have a seat."

Default I just changed my fluid at 99k, will wait a few thousand and do it again with a new filter and...

gasket. Since a drain only gets about 2.7 out of 7 liters you need to do it a couple times to really clean up the fluid. I agree that a flush could dislodge some bad stuff, wouldn't recommend it. As for those chemicals, never heard of them but they might be just fine.

Default would you be concerned about new fluid loosening something up anyhow?

it would seem the new fluid would have a bit of a detergent effect and start to clean things.

Having the tranny flushed doesn't scare me. The Audi dealer did it to this car about 70K miles ago to correct a shifting problem.

The thing I am not sure about is the chemicals they want to use.

Are you changing the filter every time you drain and refill? How many times will you refill?
