What is the ATF fluid capacity of the auto tranny in 95-97 A6's?

How do you drain entire tranny (not just pan)? They guy who flushed my transmission last week claims he flushed 14 qts of ATF. How did he do that without removing transmission?

Ran it through all the gears, drained it, refilled, etc, etc, until the fluid started to clear up? But that takes alot of time to do that. Another way, he may have used a vampire pump in some way to remove more fluid than just draining the pan but who knows.

to do this. Since the fluid in the torq converter will not come out thru a simple drop the pan exercise. You can do a complete change in fluid with a machine that hooks into the tranny cooling lines (running to the radiator).

hm... interesting. I just want to make sure theguy didn't rip me off by charging for 14qts of ATF

I suspect he used that much because you have to keep feeding it, of course a certain amount will mix...so they just keep feeding it new fluid until the fluid coming out is reasonably clean again.
