The place that I located a transmission for my 93 audi cs100 quattro 4spd automatic requires that I provide them the code found on the transmission to ensure that they ship the proper unit. Can you tell me where I find this code and what it typically is (# characters, or an example) as well as what is the easiest way to see the code.

It's in the trunk... What are you paying for that trans??

An old friend of mine has a positively good auto section for sale... probably cheaper than what you're getting yours for.

The code is in the trunk, under the carpet on the sticker that is glued to the right side of the spare wheel housing.

It'll be easy to spot.

The guy I know will sell you his unit which will surely last the rest of the life of your car for $500, $575 shipped to you.

Just my 2 cents, but do what you feel is comfortable for you.

The trans is out of the car and ready to go.

If the code matches I know you will be a very happy man.

I can instruct you on what to do to get the most life out of your transmission when you install it.

I was also serious about helping, but if you have a tight schedule, then its OK>

The code is also on the bell housing on the trans. On the silver/gold tag.
