Transmission Noise
95 A6 FWD 4 speed auto
88,000 miles
Got a small problem with my trans (I think it's the trans) and was wondering if anyone had experienced this before.
On the 2 - 3 upshift, I hear a chirping or a squeaking sound. The noise happens real quick, doesn't last longer than 1 second. It seem to happen only when the car is warm and under moderate or heavy acceleration. (I know the noise is NOT the tires breaking traction!!)
Trans service performed by dealer at 80K miles. No other problems though. No leaks. Seems to shift fine, no slipping or anything.
I searched the forum, but didn't find anything related.

Try snooping around, uh, uh, www.lubegard.com seems like Volvo or Saab was using Lubegard for this
problem and they use the same transmission some times. It's weird it started after you got the service sone. Right after? Mine was a qurst low but it hadn't been checked for at least 20,000 miles.

Thanks for the info. I'll try the lubeguard.
I should have mentioned that the trans made the noise before I had it serviced, but it seems to happen a little more frequent now.

I had the trans service done at Maple Hill Audi in Kalamazoo, MI. They just changed the filter, fluid, and gasket. I'm assuming they used the correct fluid.
I almost had to beg them to do the service too. The service manager kept trying to tell me that the transmission is a "sealed unit" and the fluid never needs to be changed. (Why is there a drain plug on the pan then?)

What did you find out? My 93 100cs started doing the same today right after service. I had ATF leaking into the coolant and had to have the radiator replaced. It didn't chirp when I dropped it off. Started right after I picked it up.
