Default War against carbon...

Perhaps I have the secret weapon in my hands now.

I just got my BG 44k fuel system cleaner... have heard that this is the only stuff that really works. (To remove carbon deposits and buildup, clean the valves, injectors, etc.)

$24 for the 11oz can with shipping. Very few distributors (only 3 in the entire state of NY) so I ordered from GPR.

If you notice any idle problems, surging, stumbling, stalling, hesitation, power loss, or even if your car is over about 50k miles and hasn't had the fuel system cleaned... you might want to think about doing something.

I have run Techron in my cars and while it breaks some carbon loose (enough to darken the oil quite a bit more than usual for a 1-2 week period) it doesn't do everything I'd like.

So short of taking the engine apart to clean it, this 44k is said to really clean things out and get rid of carbon... a well known problem on our engines.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Default Yes, yes...

Order from German Parts & Restoration in San Louis Obispo, CA :: 800 321 5432. $18/bottle plus shipping.

Professional recommendation would be Greg @ GPR... probably the most knowledgeable person I've talked to about German cars. Not positive of all of his professional experience, but for one he was a Porsche tech for 7 years, he said. So far I've talked to him about technical issues 2 or 3 times, and he's been right on target about everything each time.

I can vouch that this product is pretty darn good. I had a 1990 Jetta and when it got hot you would of thought that you had to get out and push the car. The dealer said, before we charge you for diagnostic time, try a can of this."

It worked! and I didn't have to go back to the dealer. I have tried it on my Honda and did not see the same results.

Default If you want to go locally...

try the local GM or Ford dealer. Both dealers in my area sell it right off the shelf...

Of course it was a little more expensive compared to GPR, but by the time you add shipping it was the same price...

Just a heads up. Keep in mind that the dealers in your area may not carry it. But if you live close to a GM/Ford dealer it might be worth checking out...

My local Ford dealer will only sell it as part of a kit, so I ordered from GPR.

I have used a product called TL-3 which worked quite well. So I will wait and see and maybe try the BB44 product the next time I do a fuel system clean up.

I also did a search and found the German Parts & Restoration website at http://www.gprparts.com/
I guess you can buy the BB 44K here.
