I'll post next week when I find out what the true condition of the vehicle is, and keep a log of mileage and costs...What porsche do you have?

I've never felt like this was a 'just rig it' car. My Hondas I've owned I could say that about.
However, until you find out what is really wrong with the cooling system, our advice can only go so far.

I pay about $.15 per mile (not including fuel), but that includes all maintenance; thermostat, coolant, reservoir, cap, fuel line, fuel filter, oil changes, air filter, oil filter o-ring, vacuum hoses, brake lines, rock-chip touchup, windshield washer motor, dash bulbs, VAGCOM interface, keyless entry, full-size passenger mirror, cabin filter, spark plugs, plug wires, mudflaps, wiper blades, and things like tint, wheels, tires, registration, wax, HID's, DIY supplies, oil reports, and even insurance.

So I think $.10 per mile is a fair goal.

I cant thank you all enough. I will find out and see what the future brings for my A6. I am glad you mentioned the mirror...What gives with the stubby? I found out how to replace my cloudy glass, but I'm not going to spend any money on the passenger mirror, but is there a reason it is sooo small?

2000 Porsche 911 Carerra. By far the best car i have ever driven, its so fun. I sold my Nogaro B5 S4 for her. It was a tough decision at first.

Well it was just the fans that were bad. $360.00 for both (used) installed. I was quoted $850.00 for the wp/timing kit, I believe that was installed, but I declined it for now. Air works better too! I think I will just drive her for now and see what happens in the next few thousand miles. I still am worried about the "binding" feeling I get when I turn and accl. Mech said that there are bushings on the tops of the front suspention (or maybe shock bushings?) and that they can make noise but not to worry too much about them untill the car does not track well with small steering inputs. Or at least that is what I got from the conversation. Much thanks for all the input and I will keep you posted (or ask for help) as things progress. Currently 200945 miles and counting....
Oh I have a pink G12 antifreeze, is that ok too?

If you're worried about the binding, replace your CV axles and it will go away. It's really not harmful in any way, just an annoyance. Just try not to turn so sharply.

do they often go bad with the boot still intact? They were inspected and he said the boot looked good.

They're probably not bad. It's just something audis do when the CV axles have been in use for a few years. If it bugs you, you can replace them. If not, I wouldn't worry about it.

Here is another question. What should my rpm be at 70mph on level ground? I am at about 3000-3100. This just seems high but might be normal....
