Default You would probably need to do a major retrofit to install any other engine than the std 2.8L V-6....

Since the 2.7L biturbo engine was intorduced w/ the next "C" generation chassis, I doubt it would be worth the cost to try and install anything other than the engine that your 14-year old 100S was designed to hold.

The URS4 20V Turbo engine should fit nicely.

Default It'd be cramped. There's a reason for the wider fenders on the S4.

At least that's what I remember reading.

Default The wider fenders were to accommodate larger wheel/tire combo...

I think the engine bay is the same.

Default The 100 and early A6 was designed to accomodate the V8 as well....

it was only on the 98 on A6 that Audi reduced the size of the engine compartment.

Based on that it would be possible to fit anything from the 2.2 20v turbo, 2.7t right up to and probably including the RS6 4.2turbo if you really wanted to.

The tp the original question is that if you have to aks the question, then I woudl suggest it is not a good idea to try and take it on.

Just stick with a good replacement 12v 2.8

Default Did you think about the transmission, brakes, quattro system etc

Cars are not made up just of an emgine you would ned a whole slew of parts to go with it... otherwise starting torque, grear changes etc would harm the rest of the car or the engine if all the items are not matched... not to forget the brakes themselved need to be upgraded just to stop the monster...

Default agree. I am sure, that A6 with upgraded brakes and wheels will kick *** of same A6 with big engine.

on the track. Of course, if you interested only in 0-60, than you need some V8 or something.
