Default What type of coolant for 1996?

I know, this is getting ridiculous. Just went out to finish this goddamned job and the parts place gave me two different kinds of coolant (I should have checked). The muck that came out looked like it was pink once, and I've replaced it with pink, but I needed more and the second bottle is blue.

Default G11 and G12 do not mix!!!!

IE blue and pink do not go together. You want G12 pink or good old green stuff. But according to Blau you should be using G11

http://www.blauparts.com/audi/audi_fluid/audi_coolant_engine_fluid.shtml#purpleaudicoolant</a

Default You might want to follow the link inside and read up and G11 and G12

I would think a 96 should be using the pink G12.

G11/G12 info in the UrS-car FAQ

Default The pink coolant was introduced in the C4 engine in October '96. Prior to that, it was the blue...

coolant. As others have said, don't mix the different types, which are not compatible.

As long as the system is properly flushed you can put whatever you like in...

I'm not quite stupid enough to mix the two, just wondering what I'm supposed to use

Use the red (pink) coolant, not the blue (green).
