Certain manuvers causes it and I forget the name of the bushing. It's not part of the strut. Its on front driver's side- Aframe bushing?? Someone told me and I keep forgetting- he said it's a pretty easy fix... it's getting worse...Name that part!!?

Default Is it the outer sway bar mount?

I'm not sure what it is that is making the noise, but there are really only a few different areas for bushings form what I can see from under the car with the wheel off (same thing is happening on my car and i'm not sure what to get yet). There's the Strut mount bushing on top of the strut, the outer sway bar mount that mounts the sway bar to the knuckle and the inner mount that mounts to the frame in the front of the car, and then the a-frame bushing where the a-frame mounts.
My guess is the sway bar mount tot he knuckle (two per side), I think that's what I'm going to try, but it sounds like you have the same problem I do. Does your car clunk only every once and a while when going over bumps, or when turning the wheels and accelerating from a stop?

Default You got it!! I'm not sure WHICH bushing though->>

But yeah- that's when it clunks!! A-frame bushing rings a bell- could it be ANY of them- or would omnly one make that clunk?

Default I don't know, but....

I ordered the outer sway bar bushings from bimmerparts.com. They were like 6.25 a piece. I can let you know if it fixes mine, but it may take a week before I can tell you.

Default Funny I have the same problem.......

It started making this weird clunking noise after I had the tie rod ends, front wheel bearings, and the front pads replaced, and also had the front rotors resurfaced. My car goes in on tuesday to have everything double checked just to make sure.

So I figure that since my car has 140k on the original struts, etc I'm just going to splurge a little and put new control arms, struts, strut mounts, strut bearings, and misc bushings on.

I figure it should cost me about 2k for parts and labor all around.
