Why was the bolt on my oil pan nearly impossible to get out (so tight)...

Default Why was the bolt on my oil pan nearly impossible to get out (so tight)...

are you suppose to do something to loosen it up(take filter off first, etc?)

Specified torque is 40 N-m (30 ft-lbs) for drain plug.
