Default winter car

I think I'm going to get a winter car. I almost said "beater", but then realized that Audi is an option too. I'm thinking about 80/90/4000/5000 with about 150k miles for around $1000-1500. Like this one maybe:

http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/vdetail.jtmpl?car_id=145652510

But then I could also go with Toyota, Honda, Mazda, or VW. I really like older Mazda 626's, I once had one, and it was an excellent car even with its 170K miles.

Default 4000 q would be great

I liked how the add says 65K "on the odometer". Reminds me of my rabbit, when the odo cable snapped and I didn't fix it until I had to sell it.

Default For this money Subaru is better choice.

Get Legacy Turbo with 5sp or SVX, if you really want to have fun in snow.

Subaru known for bulet proof engine and it is easier to fix.

The 4 EAT automatic is crap in the Legacies and then they put the exact same trans in the SVX, extra crap. The 5spd is good though.

I just sold this 85 5000T tonight for $2000 but I haven't received the replacement yet via carrier from MI. To bad you could have driven my A6 to PA & taken the 5K back home to MI.
