Default working on my strut mount....

well i broke my strut mount after hitting a curb in my 96a6q. When i came to try and remove the strut mount i find that two of the studs that are used to tie down the mount are loose and just spinning when i try to remove the nut. So i need to somehow get the two nuts off to remove the strut mount, and replace the studs. Any suggestions?
I think the part i need is called a concave support that has the three studs built on, part #4AO 412 321C. Can anyone confirm if this is the correct part? If this is the part i need can it be replaced using the same procedure to change out the strut insert? TIA, Mark

Default I haven't had to do this repair myself. But looking at my Bentley Manual, you'll need to remove...

the strut, and disassemble the strut assembly. You'll also need a spring compressor to disassemble the strut and probably a good penetrating oil (e.g. PB Blaster) to loosen the nuts. If you have replaced a front strut insert previously on a MacPherson strut on any car, then you'll generally have the idea what you need to do.

Default calling A6Gary

I was wondering if any way possible you could send me the pages from the bently on the procedure i need to follow to replace the concave support. I suppose since i will have to remove the strut cartridge it is time for some new ones. Let me know, thanks Mark (Msedarou@ku.edu)

Default My Bentley is the 3-volume bound hardcopy so it would be very hard to send copies...

If some one has the CD version of the Bentley Manual, they could easily make copies and send them to you.
