I think they have systems that do both ignition and fuel or just fuel at this point. I'm going to just do the fueling portion and leave the ignition in my 87 4KQT as is (ie. vacuum advance).
With the 034efi, you get 10 feet of wiring from the ECU box, so its a matter of adding on the right connectors for the injectors and sensors and connection to power and ground. Should be fairly easy.. Straight megasquirt is build-it-yourself, so you'll have to add in the wiring harness...

Why not? What's wrong with a caprice?
I've seen a number of caprices (and impalas too...) done up very nicely.
Had the chance to ride in a supercharged one (impala that is) at an autocross a few years ago. Now I have a feeling of what a saturn V rocket blastoff must have felt like. Match that with an Audi.

You misunderstood. I like BIG fas V8 American cars...I have 2 Impalas, a 87 wagon and an 85 9C1 (police interceptor package). I'm just wondering why he wants EFI, you can get more power out of a SBC by using a carb or TBI...

hes sick of the carbs. its a 79 with a 350 that came with the weeniest 2 barrel youd ever wanna see. so he swapped it out for a 4barrel which wouldnt run right for the longest time bc it was electronically controlled and.. well the car wasnt, lol. then he dug up a mechanical 4barrel which hes got running pretty good about 90% of the time but he adjusts it all the time and i think hes just getting sick of the carbs. plus hes a tweak freak and he thinks he can program EFI for more power than the carb...

First, it sounds like he must have replaced the engine, the Caprice came with a 305 not a 350. The first carb on the car was a Rochester Duajet. Nothing wrong with them, but they aren't performacnce oriented. The 4 bbl he put on was likely a Rochester Quadrajet with electonic controls. Now it sounds like he has a Holley. The reason I'm guessing Holley is the need for adjustment. Holleys are grat but a PITA to keep tuned. Before trying to put EFI on a 305, I'd really suggest trying to use a good carb on there. He'll get more power and that SBC (unles it's been built) is already saddled by a broomstick cam. I'd recomend a Eddlebrock M4M - 1980-89 4bbl carb with eletric choke. it's not a computer controleld carb, jsut the choke is eletric. That's what I run on the 78 Impala. It's a 795cfm carb with a Main Jet size of .073. Even on an otherwise stock SBC, it will provide a nice bump in power.

but its definitely a 350 and it was in there when he bought it. granted, someone could easily have plopped it in there since '79 but either way, its in there. also, in addition to a little boost in power, hes mostly looking for something he can beat on every day, get decent mileage with and not have to work on constantly. its not a show/performance car really, its big and brown with the old man soft top... ether way, thats his deal but i will show him what you wrote.
