Default 1978 Audi Fox GTi Restoration Project Pics

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/61281/fox_gti_1.jpg"></center><p>
Thought ya'll might enjoy pictures of the "Ur" Audi (in the States anyways) that I am going to restore. After finishing with my 85 4000-S (see previous posts), I found myself bored and stumbled on this 70's era beauty (look at the hood graphics, the Firebird screaming chicken has nothing on this!). For $100 it should be fun. Look for a future post showing the black **** seats (and me burning them....). Enjoy!

P.S. The girl is my sister, and yes, she has a boyfriend.

Default Excellent !!

Man, I wish I could find a Fox, especially one for $100! The car that first got me into VW/Audis was a '77 Fox I got around 1988. I wish I still had it. It was a blast to drive. That little 1.6 would scream to the redline like crazy. Could even get third gear scratch! I think the car weighed like 1900 lbs. If you don't upgrade the throttle body, at least take it off and inspect it. My '77 had a restrictor in the primary bore. I just pushed it out, and man, that thing ran better. Also, does your car have a center console connecting the floor console to the dash? If not, I may have one I took out of a '76 Dasher years ago. It has the three holes in it for gauges. I would also like to see how those headlights look in an '85-'87 grille. I think a conversion like that with the wrap around grille would look pretty neat. Could you mock that up and take a picture? I've been wanting to do such a conversion, but have been unable to find any Foxes.

Excellent find, and good luck on your project!
