I have retrieved my 1981 Audi 4000 5+5 from its shipping container and have brought it home. This was my personal car in the mid 1980s. It has been idle since the mid 1990s and has sat in storage. The body is in VERY good condition and that is to be expected, as it was in a low humidity environment. I have not tried to start it and I’m sure the fuel and brakes need going through. This thing only has 63,000 miles. The interior looks as good as the exterior. Here are a few images. Is there a market amongst you officionadios for this rare bird?
Everyone in the Midwest had a CB radio! Plus growing up on a farm it was the only way to communicate. You could also talk with truckers on the interstate to hear weather, where the highway patrols were located, traffic reports, etc.
One way to find out. DO what you need to do to recommission it and put it out there (I'd try this site's classifieds, local CL or FB Marketplace before any of the auction sites for a gauge). I test drove 5+5 in 1981. LOVED it. Ultimately bought a 4000 Q in '84. Keep me/us posted if/when you decide to sell
Any update? I'd be reluctant to sell a really nice 5+5 just because most of the time it's people looking to cut it up to make a SportQ. And many of those will never get around to it, so the car will end up rotting away.
