Default 4000 Quattro backfire through intake

Today I installed a new vacuum servo for the center diff. And when I went to start the car again, it was idling at 500ish rpm and when I tried to rev the engine up it shuttered and backfired through the throttle body. I checked my vacuum lines and distributor cap and they all seemed fine. I noticed that the idle air pump hose was collapsing when I got on the gas. I did the job at my friends house and had to drive it home. It didn't stall but it had absolutely NO power and the only way I could accelerate was to up shift. Has anyone had this problem ? hall sender? o2 sensor? idle stabilization valve?

Sorry for the long post, I'm very frustrated. Any help was be awesome!

Thanks

Default Backfire through intake usually denotes a lean running condition.

So, start by looking for a vacuum leak, then perhaps something you bumped or umplugged that might affect mixture.

thanks tony, so i've got it figured out...so if you look at the fuse box, there are 6 fuses along the bottom edge, they are 23 through 28. 5 of those slots are open one of them is the cis-e power supply. i pulled it out and put it in my power mirror slot. thinking it was a spare fuse. long story short cis-e works better when it has power. i do think it's pretty silly that audi would put only one fuse in the middle of a bunch of open fuse slots. thanks for comments.

Default That's a VERY common mistake.

I've bought a 4000Q and the recent 80 cheap because of this. I was told the 80 needed a new Hall sender, diagnosed by a shop. It's amazing how much better it works with power, also!!

Glad you got it sorted out,
