Default 4000Q having trouble running

I was looking at a fellow audiworld poster who had the same problem. The car was running fine then on Xmas eve The car drove fine no porblems then tried to drive it a little while after shutting it off and nothing the car wouldnt run. The car starts but only idles for 5-6 secs then shuts down. Also if you give it gas it just shuts off. I check all of the above: Fuel pump relay, fuel pump is running, checked for vac leaks. I am stumped anyone have any ideas. I thought maybe water in the lines but I drained about 1.5 gallons out and put 2 bottles of dry gas in. Of course I sold my bentley when I sold my old 4000csq so I need so thoughts I what to check. Please help me out the snow is coming.

If it all of a sudden isn't running I usually blame some electrical gremlin. Which sucks, since they're hard to find. Start with the basics though- check your fuel, spark, and compression. The fact that it starts and runs for a couple seconds to me is indicative of a fuel issue; your car is running on the output of the CSV and then dying. Try jumpering the relay to get constant fuel pump operation regardless of whether the engine is running or not...

Luck!

Fuel pump seems like a good place to start....

I am having the exact same problem. I tried all the tricks i have seen posted on the forum, had a buddy of mine who's a mechanic come over, but he doesn't know audi that well. Any other hints someone could put out there, possibly a link to some schematics of the troublesome area?? I checked the relay, jumpered, etc. checked fuses, it gets start, gets fuel, just won't stay running seems to be a popular issue on this car. Any info would be appreciated, considering that i have to get back to work for monday, and its new years eve

It turned out to just be a fuse which was weird. It was the fuse that looks like a spare I over looked the fuse I checked it real quick but didnt pull it out. Then I re thought it and a hint from someone else my brother pulled it out and sure enough it was blown put in a new fuse and car runs great.
