4KQ Exhaust Manifold
Is it feasible to pull the exhaust manifold without removing the head?
I am guessing the best way is to go at it from the bottom, but can you torque correctly from that angle? The head is still fresh with new studs and lock nuts, so I don't really fear any broken studs (other than myself!).
Thanks

Sure it's possible. Removing the intake manifold might provide easier access.
I've never pulled the exhaust from a 4kq, though, so I don't know. I'd imagine it would be easier from the bottom, given the tilt of the engine and whatnot.

He's right it will help with the intake removed. Do you have any universal sockets?
You know, any that have a u-joint built in. These help quite a bit. There's still a couple of nuts near the back that will test your patience even with a short wrench. Hopefully they're not siezed on.

It can be done
I put the the 4kq exhaust on my coupe GT years ago and I did not remove the intake manifold. But I did have to remove all the fuel meter stuff. My coupe is a 2.3L so the manifold is different. When I removed the 4kq's manifold from the junkyard I did have to take off the intake manifold but I can't remember why (could be like everyone is said "its easyer that way"). Have fun.
