Default 4kq front suspension problem

For a while now, Ive had this odd problem with tight turning in my 4kq.
In the morning I have to back out of the driveway and crank the wheel to the right. When I do, at a certain point it feels like the drivers front wheel "slips" and skids around on the pavement, and its not normal. Once I get to the end of the driveway, I have to go down a little hump onto the street, then the passenger side wheel will almost do the same thing, with a nice "clunk".
I suspect something with the swaybar bushings, as I havnt changed those yet. Strut mounts are a few years old, but I take care of the car and the suspension is very tight. Ball joints and tie rods are all in great shape too.
Any thoughts?

Default Mine kind of does the same thing but clunks

Strut mounts are < 2 years old - I suspect it's my ball joints or tie rod ends - or perhaps my swaybar end bushings. No help to you, but =P

Default I've been chasing the same problem for 10 years!!!!

I think it's the tie rod ends.
When I'm backing up and turning the wheel to full lock, the pasenger side "clanks" loudly!!
Usually when I replace the tie rod ends (I'm on my 4th set!!), it goes away...
I changed my rack 1 month ago, the noise mysteriously reapeared!!

Default A lot of the urqs do that too. I've been told by a reputable tech....

that its the wheel bearing sliding between the clips. I'm sure that this is not always the case, but its another angle to look at it.

Default new bushings too when you mounted it up?

i really don't know, just shooting from the hip. it's a possibility in mike's case. could be anything, really. there's a lot of stuff between the wheels. maybe it has to do with the steering geometry.
