I have been looking into 4kq's for a while now
and may be splitting the cost a one w/ a good friend next weekend
and first was thinking of RallyX direction and a stepping stone into Rally(then buy prepped car)
After doing a few track events(was @ Sears today) in my A4 1.8T...I would love to get more time on the track(I have met some great ppl and they have kinda taken me under their wing)
but don't wanna drive my street car too hard
also the A4 is so heavy!!!
wanna track a $3000 car not a $30000 car
still having a blast either way..
What are your guys opinions.
(it would be possible to swap out suspension and run Track and RallyX)
I will prep the car pretty well over time, but wanna be able to drive it on the street(I have no towing equipment)
thnaks again sorry for the 1000???s

4kq is a good, cheap car to run, so long as you don't want to go fast. But, a slower car is a better car for learning to drive on a race track, as you will be forced to learn the proper line and maintain momentum since you can't rely on pure power to save your ****. Stock suspension with stiffer than oem struts should be fine for Rally-x. These cars have decent ground clearance and suspension travel stock. For the track, you'll want to lower it a bit (though not essential...mine isn't), definately add more sway bar and more tire. Great bang for the buck and quite dependable once you fix the few things the prev owner never bothered to.

if it would be faster than my A4 1.8T around the track or not enoght power
I know it will weight 800 less and I would strip her
but I think the 4kq could beat the A4 in the corners if I had good tires and susp
am I correct(I would feel much more comfortable pushing hard in a cheaper car)
The A4 does ok(better if I was better
) and I can hold my own...but still sucks when a big HP car is lagging in the corners and I can't really pass b/c they don't let up enough
I plan would do the 5000T swap eventually(then it would for sure be faster than the A4)
Either way Its fun as hell
and just think it would be really neat to have a 4kq as a track/rallyx/around town car
I have never seen one @ any Nasa events I have been to
otherwise I will just keep the A4 @ the track...and save up for a RWD car
