Default Re: 5cyl VS. 4cyl

It would seem that one extra cylinder does help, only way it comes right,

4kq is 5 cyl only, 4ks is 4 cyl only in america, 5 or 4 in canada (maybe europe?)

All 4kq's come 5cyl. 4 cyl is fine for smaller cars but 4k/CGT needs 5 cyl.

Default I think it makes very little difference

The HP difference between the 1.8ltr I4 and the 2.2 ltr I5 is only 10hp, not a really big deal but it doesn't matter, 4Kqs only came in I5 in the USA...

Default 4 cyl is sweeter reving

According to Road & Track (back in '84) they claim that the 4 cyl is a sweeter reving powerplant and that the 5 is on the harsh side in comparison. But what do they know?

The 5 cylinder sounds the best. If that's what they mean by harsh, then what's it matter.

Default 5cyl also sounds cooler when describing it to someone.

I like the looks I get when I tell someone I have a 5 cyl engine.. Not very common number of pistons. Which makes it cool! (IMO)
