86 CGT needs new front rotors and pads. Any suggestions besides stock?

Stock rotors are more than adequate. Anything else is just 'bling'.
For pads, I like Pagid or Axxis. They are a good all-round pad. Takes a lot to make them fade any.

I've had great luck with Ate Powerdiscs in front - but beware
they're cheese graters. I can make it about 1 mile before there is brake dust on my wheels - regardless if I hit the brakes or not :-(
I'm swapping from Pagid pads to a carbon-metallic race pad (Carbotechs). But, my car sees no street duty.

I've got the Carbotechs too, XP-8's I think, they'll turn you into a braking GOD!!
They offer much more braking than you need.
The nice thing is they have twice the "bite" (coeficient of friction) street pads have, you don't need nearly as much pedal pressure compared to street pads.
They are super dusty, and "grind" at slow speeds, I drove with them on the street for 6 months, but they didn't need to heat up either...

Well.. that's what I found out... getting on the brakes at the last minute upsets the balance...
when you turn in the weight is shifted way too forward...
all the transitions; braking, turn in, accleration, have to be smoooooooooooth!!

It's funny - when you explain to students the premise of braking harder earlier
so as not to upset the car, which would seem to me to be a fairly easy physics concept, they look totally confused and don't understand. The common retort is "But I FEEL like I'm going faster if I brake at the last second as hard as possible."
When I take them around in my car and ask them to tell me when I let off the brakes, they usually can't. Everything should be seamless. The car should never do any movements quickly - if it does, you've lost momentum.
I suppose the one exception is, of course, if you have 1,001 horsepower and can change the rotation of the earth.
