Hi, I'm new here and recently bought a 1987 4000 S non-quattro that had been lowered. The springs were chopped and the car is so low it scrapes over bumps and I can barely get around town.
I had no idea how hard it would be to find replacement springs. I am not looking for lowering springs, just want it back to stock height. Someone who does rallycross found me a set for a goog price but it turns out they were from a quattro, and he said he looked it up and that it wouldn't work for my car (does anyone know if it's doable? I feel like anything would be better than the way it is now...)
I guess I'm just looking for someone to steer me in the right direction. I live in Portland Oregon. I've called auto part stores and they either couldn't get the parts or told me they would be insanely expensive, and I've called the junk yards with no luck.
Also the front passenger-side strut is blown so I bought new front struts to put in when the suspension gets fixed, and am now looking for just the springs (all 4), is this accurate? Some people I've talked to said they can be done separately but I thought someone else said it was all one unit.
I have plenty more questions about my new car, little things that need to be done but for now this is the most important thing as I can barely drive it. Thanks so much for any help you can give me.

I know at least the fronts should be done together since the whole upright has to come out. I'm not familiar with the rear of non Q's though. There is a guy out in Portland on other audi forums that may be able to get you the springs. Derek is his name. I should have his email if you want it.

Go to vwvortex.com, to the Fox forum. Look for a user named Longitudinal. He may have a set. He seems to have one of everything. I've thrown out 3 sets in the last few years.

...on Audifans.
You'll get something. There is always Chris at ForceFive too..you'll pay a bit more and he may exaggerate the condition slightly.

forcefive
