Default 87.5 Coupe GT or 86 4000CS?

I have a choice between a 86 4000CS, that is having trouble passing emissions (barley due to old cat) or a newly rebuilt 87.5 GT. I think I might miss the quattro in the GT vs. the 4000. Also the GT is about 1000 bucks more...but has a new head, exhaust, electrical etc.

Thoughts?

Default Depends on your location and what you want it for.

I can tell you that even with average all season tires my GT does real well in the snow...
The GT is somewhat more unique looking (IMO) and will be noticably faster than the 4kq...

Default As CGTBrad said...

Depends on what you want the car for. Ive only driven one CGT, and it was CGTBrads. I loved it, personally, its much quicker and nimble than my 4kq, due to the weight factor. That 2.3 powerplant sure is nice, I'll admit that. At some point Id like a CGT.
The 4kq's are nice, but weigh alot and are underpowered. I like quattro myself, and if you are looking to really beef one up horsepower wise, you will have one hell of a car.
I bought my 4kq for 700 bucks from a guy on this forum, but Ive put alot of time, effort and blood/sweat/tears into it.
Id say go with either, both will bring you joy.

Default quattro is just dead weight (LOL)

If you live in the snow belt and can have fun with it on slippery surfaces, the 4kq can be fun. Otherwise, the CGT will be much more entertaining. quatts are heavy and underpowered, sad but ture. The 2.3 CGT is a great handling car with adequate or better power. It doesn't really drive like a fwd car. If it were between a 2.2 CGT and the 4kq I'd say drive 'em both and decide, but with the choice you have the CGT is a better car.

Default I would buy both..............

but if only want one I would go with the Quattro if you are going to use it. The CGT has more power and will probably be more fun. I would go for the one in better shape. IMO, I think the sedan is a nicer looking car than the coupe.

Agreed, an 87.5 CGT is hard to beat for the fun factor...
