87 CGT starts than dies...
Me and my friend have been working on his 87 CGT trying to figure out why the hell does it not stay running. Anyway there is spark and there is fuel spraying. The car starts for about 2 secods than dies regardless if i add gas or not. Here are my guesses. Some relay, type of fuel(his dad put in 87 octane before it broke.) any ideas? if its a relay whihc 1 is it?

My guess its running onthe cold start relay.
the cold start relay only runs for a few seconds at start up. so that timing matches when your engine is running. Don't dick with that relay it appears it is funcitioning correctly.
Was anybody playing with thee mixture or idle speed before this problem occured? If so, set it back to the original settings. CIS, CIS-E is extremely reliable if not monkeyed with.
another realson the mixture could be out is a vacume leak has developed. Do a thorough check of all hoses and connections.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out
( my shot int he dark) See what the others think

my car had a similiar problem..............
It would run for a second or two and die or not start at all. Turned out to be the fuel pump relay which is in the fuse box under the hood. I don't remember what number it was but if you look under the lid at the sticker if its still there it will say which one it is. Could be that.
