Default 90 coupe quatt springs on my 87 4kcsq

My brother is going to coilovers for his 90 coupe quatt. Can I drop the springs onto my car to lift it a little and be a touch stiffer? Id love a little more travel and a little stiffer springs, so this seems like an easy drop in. thoughts?

Easy swap, and does lift & stiffen the car a bit. Somebody here has pictures of the result.

Consider having new strut top bearings and possibly the shock dust boots handy when you do the job.

Those parts are easy to replace at the same time as you are swapping out the springs, and are often broken anyway..

I like to crack loose and neverseize & re-tighten the strut collars while in there too..

the fronts have new strut mounts. I had the hardest time finding rear strut mounts for the 4kq last time i was looking.

i also have fresh inserts to put in the rears.

Default 4Kq Rear strut mounts..

Front strut mounts work OK in the back, but give a very slight lift. (Maybe 1/4" to 1/2" ?)

Not a bad thing, considering rear 4kq springs always seem to be sagged out anyway!

(They seem to be less expensive that the rear mounts too!)

Default i'm on 90q20v springs.. but i'm going to 20v front springs on all 4 corners, want the back up a bit.

my picture poster has some pictures of my car with the 20v springs, and you can see the back sags.. however, i believe the coupe has slightly taller rear springs? not sure

Default Just did front springs on all 4 corners..

I just helped a friend 'raise' his 4kq a bit.

We used 90 q front springs in the front, and moved his 4kq front springs to the rear. Used green (front, I think?) strut mounts on all corners.

Makes sense that your rear sags..
We had a set of 90q 20V rear springs that we were thinking of putting in during the above project, but they seemed to be pretty well the same as 4kq rear springs. Same number of turns, same length, and same diamater spring wire.

So we eneded up putting the 4kq front springs in the rear. Mcuh better!

The front springs in the rear took the back end of the car off the ground, and made the car handle a bit better. Rear end is now a bit stiffer, and 'steps out' a bit easier. Sort of acts like adding a bit of rear swaybar.. :-)
