Default Again with the starter...

Im still having starting issues, before the starter was non-functional, i got the replacement starter which seemingly worked, but seemingly the solenoid is not engaging the starter gear. So do i try another starter?

My offer still stands, if that starter isn't working, send it back to me for a refund

Default Do i try another starter? Or 'operate'? :-)

Did you take the starter apart, and make sure that there is nothing obviously wrong inside?

The pull in mechanisim is not too complicated.

You can also see if the plastic 'reduction gear' assembly is cracked. That happens *all* the time. When that assembly fail (cracks), starter motor can spin, but starter may not turn over motor. (But if you bench test, it still can spin the output gear, but not strong enough to turn over motor. Just to trick you!)

I don't know what Bosch were thinking when they made the reduction gear assembly out of plastic (A similar Bosch Volvo starter uses metal gears!)

Just don't pull out the armature from the main starter housing!

(Unless you can figure out how to get the brushes apart again, so you can re insert the armature..?)

Default k, do that. I know it works. The only reason I replaced it was I got new parts happy

doing my turbo conversion and replaced a lot of stuff. I know you were having some wiring issues so maybe that's it.

Default The big money stuff was the starter, oil pressure relay under the dash, UrQ heat shields

for the motor mount, UrQ reference sensor in the top of the bell housing(never used that one), UrQ lower intercooler hose. hmm, that's all that comes to mind right now, but they were pricey pieces..
