Ive taken a few long trips in it this summer, and after everyone I don't even want to look at the car, let alone put my back through anymore abuse.
I don't think it's the suspension, but i'll have a better idea after I swap out the H&Rs this weekend or next. I think it's the seats and the small interior. Which I love the look of, just not the comfort level.
Never thought id say this, Im looking forward to driving my slushbox 5kt in the summer...

They are very comfy on long trips (ala Carlisle). The 4k seats are another story! I hate how flat they are, no bolster support at all. My 4k seats are worn and you can feel the metal bars dig into your side on some hard turns and when you exit the car, ouch! Ive had numerous comments of how comfy the rear seat is as well in the quattro.
Ive ridden in a 5ktq with sport seats (Steve Ankney's) on a decent road trip and those are super comfy too.
Id thing the 5ktq sport seats would be a good upgrade (too big though for the 4k), or even 90 series sport seats. UrS4 seats are my favorite though

Back is the issue? Seats.
Roll a towel up and put it behind your back as lumbar and see if it changes anything.
otherwise the 4000Q is a buzzy cabin and fatigue sets in quickly. The type 44 is So much quieter.......

...sheepskin covers and i love long trips in mine...and loved them in my red coupe before i started driving the white one.
the only thing i need to worry about is one of those little squishy pillows to put behind my back sometimes and one for my left side to rest my elbow on. you guys should try this, i wouldnt make a trip without out one now!!
