Anyone have their car painted recently? What is the going rate for a nice job?

I'm thinking I might want to get the whole car done in original Oceanic Blue. I want a great-looking, durable paint job that won't need to be waxed. Will $3,000 do it?
Apart from that, does anyone know where to get Oceanic Blue touch-up paint. I can go have it custom mixed, but does anyone know if there is an off the shelf Oceanic Blue touch up bottle? I haven't done much research yet, besides going to the local parts stores, to no avail.

And definately some rust repairs(especially in the rocker panels and rear wheel arches) as well. If you want to save yourself some money, dissassemble the car yourself. Take out the lights, glass, remove the mouldings and bumpers, take off things like the mirrors, washer nozzles, etc. If you have some experience at doing bodywork, you can tackle some of that as well. Keep in mind that some shops may not be too inclined to do paint work on a car that someone else did the bodywork to, and anything that you don't do correctly will have to be fixed by the shop. It's best to drive the car around to shops in your area and get an idea on pricing, and talk to them about your planned course of action so far as dissassembly and other work you elect to perform. Do this BEFORE taking anything apart.

I did a very basic re-paint. Most of the work on my car was rust repair and prior accident damage(the car has been totalled twice). the car looks presentable, but it's nowhere near what I would want for a show car. We didn't even bother to wet sand and buff it. The car looks presentable, and most people wouldn't even be able to tell what we didn't bother to fix.

First, as was stated, ALL paint needs waxed. Clearcoat paints reduce the need for frequent waxing, but the clear will still break down over time if not protected and eventually make those lovely white clouds you see on crappy American cars.
Second, it's very difficult to find body shops willing to do all-over paint jobs. You are probably going to be stuck with the likes of Maaco, which can do a good job if you pay them enough and de-trim the car yourself. My main gripe is they don't put the paint on very thick, and it chips off easily. Also, the clear has a minimum thickness it must be applied at or it will fail. While $3000 would probably paint a car, do you really want to invest $3000 in a $2500 car? It never fails, something bad will happen to it shortly afterwards and the insurance will never give you what you've just spent.
If you just have paint issues on the top surfaces (hood, roof), just get those panels redone.

the paint isnt holding up a nice as the factory paint , should I look for a new door and fender that was the original factory paint or just stick with the fading paint I have.
