The turbo is off a turbo diesel volkswagen and the stock boost level is set to 11psi. I want to lower this setting to about 6psi. I know i need to adjust the wastegate on the turbo, but which bolt/screw is it, and which way do i rotate it, and how much to achieve 6psi. I can't really afford to overboost an engine these days. Thanks for any input!

Integrated wastegate? Or external?
You could probably run a manual boost controller if its an integrated (internal) WG. Otherwise, you can adjust the tension on the spring under the cap on the external units. SJMAutotechnik has instructions...

Yeah, external, but different than the gas turbos (some of the diesels used an internal wastegate turbo, Garret and/or 3K-Warner supplied for different engines).
Thats actually a better EM than the gas turbos, WG actually vents all cylinders equally, vs the 4/5 cyl biased venting the MC/KH/WR/etc setup has...
Anyway, there should be some way to adjust the spring tension once the top cap is removed. I'd think about getting a spare to play with first. I'd also be more likely to look into a manual boost controller and/or bleeder valve used in conjunction with a good pressure gauge if you don't already have one. The bleeder is easy, taps into the WG signal line IIRC, and bleeds off pressure to a set amount, which keeps the WG closed, allowing more boost to be run. Don't forget to keep an eye on fueling! EGT or a good A/F will help you tune it too.
