anyone out there running a swiss cheese air box?

I've read many "reports" on both sides of this debate. From what I've gathered, once the car starts moving, there is enough airflow inside the engine bay that there isn't really and cool/hot spots, it's all hot. I believe thats why most OEM airboxes draw air from outside the engine bay.

But with the turbo conversion, the inner fender had to be trimmed and the airbox now sits behind the actual outer fender (right behind the passenger headlight).
When I had it painted, I had them add vents to the fender (which are funtional without the inner fender in the way).
