Has anyone used an aftermarket Hella horn? I was given a gift cert. for Chritma, and this is about the only thing that they have I might want.

Hella makes 2 different ones, but Griot's only has the electric horn. It provides 118dB of suggestion. Can anyone give me an idea of the dB for our factory horn?

The need was reinforced today when I almost hit a 100lb. dog that was chasing an oncoming truck. Man is superior (to put it nicely).

...to a horn I took off a Chevy Caprice. Its VERY loud now and gets the moose off the road from a greater distance away. The stock models are just too quiet even in the wilderness of darkest Canada. I was looking at the Hellas in an effort keep the car European and Chevy-free, so if you get them - please provide a report.

Heh...ever hear those new Cadillac horns? Sounds like a train!

I have those. Great horns. They make a different sound, but it's nice and loud. They want you to mount them so that the part of the horn facing up in the picture is facing the road in front of you. That's how the sound is projected. However, I have them face down on my car and people still get out of my way.
