why is that? Since I replaced my odo cable a few months ago, it doesn't count as fast as it used to. It doesn't make sense.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/4000/msgs/34158.phtml">original post below.</a></li></ul>

my guess is the odometer's drive gear slips on its shaft when it heats up. I haven't bothered to open it up to look. My speedo works all the time and my cables are lubed. I've heard others repair a failed odometer by simply pressing the gear closer to the worm gear.

Just recently opened mine up to figure out what was wrong with it. The gear was cracked, just pushed it over and superglued it in place. Is there a replacement you can get for the cracked one? Cause I doubt that the superglue will hold for very long. BTW, the needle is a PITA to take off, be very careful. I had to rig mine back together.

replacement gear is probably hard as a mother to find, esp one from vdo... perhaps a hobby shop would have a similar one that fits? you know from an RC Car or something.
