I own an 81 Audi 4000 5+5. Apparently this is a rare car! I've been driving it for about ten years and have never seen another one on the road. Sure, I see other Audi 4000's, but they're always 4 doors never 2 like mine. I really like it and it's still running very well. I just had to replace the fuel accumulator after how many miles (?) 250,000 I think (odometer broke a long time ago). It has well over 200,000 miles on it. Can anyone tell me more about my car? Where is a good place to find parts like molding and seats?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Welcome to the club. I had one too. I'd love to get it back. Anyway, the 1981 Audi 4000 5+5 was a very limted production vehicle, around 1,300 were imported. It was an early model year 1981 car to tide Audi over until the 1981 Coupe could get into production. It's basically a 2-door 4000 with the driveline of a 1981 Coupe. Same engine, tranny and suspension. Please, pose a pic of your 5+5 if you can. Where are you?

Hey, thanks for the pictures!!
And thanks everyone for responding to my post. Someone said that only 1,500 were imported to the US? Did I read that correctly?
Wow, your audi looks identical to my 5+5--same rims, but yours is in much better shape!! The paint on my 5+5 is red and blistered and pealing. I was thinking about an Earl Scheib paint job, but now I'm reconsidering. There's not much rust except for the rear deck lid. Was thinking of going to the junk yard and replacing it with any 4000 deck lid of the same dimensions. You've all inspired me to hold-on and take care of this car. I've been driving this thing for at least 10 years in Los Angeles, and I've never seen another one on the road much less a 2-door 4000. Believe me I've been looking. I even went for a huge road trip to Colorado up to British Columbia and back down the west coast in it camping out of the trunk at road stops, farmers' fields, etc. Ever been to the North Rim of Grand Canyon? Wow. No one is out there! It was just me and my 5+5. All dirt roads and lots of mud--no problem I just kept my speed up and plowed right through the tough spots. It's got a lot of spirit. The dash is cracked due to exposure to the sun. The liner is in good condition. The driver seat is worn and has lost its lumbar support. What can I do for the dash? It's got minor dents and bruises. I'd like to post a pic, but don't own a digital camera--maybe I can borrow a friends and then I can show you all my great car. Once again thanks all for replying and the encouragement! Any 4000 SoCal people out there?
