Default What I wouldn't do for one of those

Man the 50's rock. I'd love to tune one up. I bet they're only in europe though. What are the specs, etc. Looks just like a rabbit.

Default Those are cool...

We never get the good stuff in the US. What year did they make those? That would really mess with somebodys head to show up with some Audi logos on your Rabbit. J/K

Default i believe 1974-1978, just before the rabbit and polo

looks like the polo1 is based off this audi's platform

http://www.geeforty.freeserve.co.uk/history/audi50.htm

Default Those old front grilles are pretty cool. Makes me wish Audi AG would consider going back to simpler

styling. The new Audi grilles are getting to be a bit much.

Default MY's 1975 to 1978, had a 1.1 or 1.3L 4cyl , 37, 38, 43, 44kW power...

Front suspension is eriely similar to that found on the Type43, 44, and 4A.

Default Nice little rides... reminds me of this demonic idea I had for a Fox 2dr

and when I say Fox, it could be either a VW Brasil Fox or an Audi Fox, seeing as they are so similar. I'd prefer an Audi Fox as I've been the owner of 5 Audis and 0 dubs, as much as I like VW. Also my folks had a Fox when I was 5, making my hands-on Audi experience date back 25 years (wow...)

I want to build a Fox 2 door in some crazy rendition of a 70s color (bright orange, anyone?) with Minilite 14s and a full-on 1.8T conversion. Could just do the same engine in my CGT, but that would necessitate a full subframe swap in addition to all the other stuff, and besides, something bothers me about reducing the number of cylinders even if you do get more power. A coupe just wouldn't seeem right if it didn't have the 5 cylinder growl. A Fox in a Lifesavers color with all stock trim, OTOH... what a bizarre sleeper!
