Auto Tranny Flush

I tried searching for this but couldn't find much info.
I tried to get the auto fluid changed the other day at Mr. Lube. They said they can't do it because there is no Tranny Cooler. They said they hook the flush machine to the cooler lines.
So how does one flush the entire system? Dropping the pan wouldn't get all the fluid in the Tourque Converter, etc.
Any suggestions?
BUT... I've read an old thread saying that these cars DO have a cooler. Is it just certain models that have them?
Thanks.

The cooler is on the side of the tranny. It has coolant lines from the engine going into it which cools the tranny fluid. I dont think that there are any actual lines with tranny fluid in it so I doubt a place like Mr. Lube could change the fluid.

you only get about 1/3 to 1/2 the fluid but a clean pan and filter is the old school maintenance. Many shops don't like to open the pan due to come-backs with leaks. If you can break out your own lines you can take a pair of buckets large enough to hold the fluid to suck in and another to hold the fluid pumped out. www.ipd.com sells a kit to do this on 850 Volvo's, It may be something you can retrofit to do an Audi.

I just started working at this tire/tuneup shop in town and damn, the guys use it on EVERYTHING. We do a lot of transmission maintnence and always drop the pan to clean it throughly.

I wouldn't worry about a flush so much as I'd be worried about whether the trans and diff are swapping fluids.
Do an archive search for more info on the automatic.

I've read that problem while searching. I hope I don't have to replace the tranny. I just spent $3500 to get my Explorer tranny completley overhauled, it crapped out while 4wheeling.
