Default Is this bad gas?

My 86 4kq has been running PERFECT, starts first crank every time. Today when I went to leave for work it started right up as usual and then stalled right away; did this about 10 times. Yesterday I got gas (about a mile from my house) topped up the oil and battery. That's all. It was running fine when I parked it.

SEEMS like bad gas, but why would it start good? Good fuel in the CSV line still? Haven't had time to mess with it, looking for some feedback.

Thanks!
Robert

Default Bad gas is more like a misfire in my experience

I guess it depends on what you consider bad gas. I think I got a little water before. Old gas will provide hard starts.

When it will not start, can you hear the fuel pump come on?

Default fuel bump? intake boot?

Does your fuel pump buzz when you put the car in accessory, it should.

Is your intake boot attached to the throttle body, this is a common problem with lots of random no starts.

Default Update... probably not bad gas

Messed with it last night. Recall that it does START (every time, no problem) but stalls _right away_.

Fuel pump is good, both operates and flows correct volume. No water evident in the gas I flowed for measuring delivery.

Current to differential pressure regulator is good, goes up after the starter runs and the warmup current is correct.

'System pressure' is good at 80 psi.

** Differential pressure is out of spec at 80psi; supposed to be 3-7 psi less than system pressure.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I'll mess with it more tonight/tomorrow; thanks for the input!

Default Re: Fuel filter,, a partial block?

I think if it were the filter I'd see a problem with the pressure or the flow rate, and both are good...
