Default Bentley vs Haynes Manuals. score 1 for bentley, 0 for haynes.

So I finally got my Bentley last week. VERY impressed, and must admit to all you folks that I had my doubts as to wether or not I needed one. NO longer!!!!

I mean that I'm not pulling engines anymore, but am very regular with regrular/needed maint. I really thought the Haynes was sufficient. However, there's no going back at this point. That Bently is big enough to throw at a horse and knock it down. Info is formatted sooooo much better.

Yous guys was right!!!!

Default Haynes is good for a beginner to start w/, if you haven't felt

like you needed more info there's no need to spend the extra $$.

I have both, and love my Bentley. But for the average car owner Haynes will point you in the right direction for basic stuff like oil change, spark plugs & wires, etc..

You have to remember that there's poeple on this board that still get a shop to do their oil changes, probably the same people that still need full serve gas stations.

Default

Ha...throw at a horse! The binding on mine is cracked from use...if I threw it, it would scatter!

Default Not fun if you have someone else doing the work........

I do all my own stuff. If I can't do it then I'll have someone help and teach me so I can do it next time on my own. On the other hand, with the new truck now I will be going to the dealer because I get 4 free oil changes a year for life. Plus its under warranty so if anything happens I can blame them. But all my old stuff, I take care of myself. Makes life more interesting.

Default I found it to be the opposite.

I have always found the Haynes to be geared to beginners, Bentley towards people in the know. Check the Haynes section on the A/C system it basically says "bring it to a mechanic, your not smart enough to fix this dumbass".

Bentley seems to assume you are a mechanic and shows you a more complete breakdown on things. Definitely more informative. But both have there places I think.

Just my $0.02.
