Bulb comparison
Ok, so I ordered a few different sets of bulbs for my H4's, heres what Ive discovered.
I ordered a set of 130/90W Hella halogen bulbs and a set of some 100/80W Optilux XB bulbs. The Optilux are more like a ricer bulb, but have a very nice white light. The halogens are super bright and I like them the best.
One question though, the high beams for each set doesnt seem as good as the stock bulbs. Maybe its how I have them aimed. Anybody have any BTDT on this, or is it normal for the high beams to be kinda lame?
Also, the low beams with the stock bulbs, I could clearly see the cutoff line, but with the high wattage bulbs I cant see it anymore, but I feel that I have alot more light.
Any info on what Ive posted would be great.
Mike

Oh, did you check for quality problems before installing?
A high percentage of inexpensive high wattage bulbs are defective, or suffer from quality control problems.

Note the offset of the generic capsule (right), the weak weld points, poorly alligned fillament, and the overall 'sloppy' look

Looking closely at the Lumiko brand 9006 bulb from Heliolite you will immediately notice the Heliolite bulb construction cannot match that of the Höen bulb. Most noticeable are the flaws in the capsule which can lead to undesirable lighting projection. Small filament attachment points shown in the competitors bulb are more susceptible to rapid bulb failure due to vehicle vibrations.

As quality control from these manufacturers is lacking and seeing how when it hits the retailer it is not visually inspected (hidden in a white box) the end result is an unhappy customer with an unbelievably flawed bulb, assuming he/she even cares about quality...
So not all bulbs are created equal.
