This started only a couple of days ago, but when I run my compressor for the A/C, I can hear it clicking on and off. I checked the wires and fuses, and they seem to be fine. So why is it cycling on and off every couple of seconds? It is driving me nuts because with the compressor not on all the time, it can't cool the car very well.

it cycles on and off because it's probably low on freon, that's a safety feature to keep from burning up your compressor. Not enough pressure in system triggers the clutch off, then your demand for A/C triggers clutch on,then low pressure triggers clutch off, then your A/C demand triggers clutch on, then low pressure......get it?

You'll see the bubbles flowing by as the compressor kicks on. If the system were full, you'd have no bubbles, just liquid freon flowing past.
Since you'll be recharging it, adding flouresching dye and checking for leaks, I'd recommend spending $25 on a new receiver dryer. She'll cool a ton better with a new one and it only takes 10min to R&R.

Hope that your prob is low freon. I'd start there like 4corners and gmbcheif said...
