Ok, so I cleaned up the front calipers this morning a bit, they look almost good (still have the factory coating Im after). Im thinking Im going to want to get them blasted and recoated though. My question is do I leave the calipers complete (with everything still attached) then have them blasted and coated, OR do I take everything apart then do it?
I need to figure out a place in town that will Zinc coat the calipers and carriers, but i wanted to ask before I did anything.
Lastly, how do the pistons come out of the front calipers? I know the rears unscrew, but Ive never taken apart a caliper in my life. I was gonna post pictures but the camera batteries are dead

Put a block of wood in the caliper to protect the piston and then use compressed air through the hole where the hose attaches and blow the piston out.
For the cost/effort etc of blasting, coating and re-sealing it may be almost as cheap to buy new or rebuilt calipers. I recently got new ones for my '86 Coupe for $75 CAN each.

Talked with a few people about new calipers, getting prices on Tuesday for those.
We'll see what the cost/benefit is going to be and if its "worth it" IMHO to get new ones.

I actually had a tough time getting the new boots on today, but after I figured it out with the first one the other was cake.
The person who told me about the calipers said he could get OEM ones for a super price (including carriers), so we'll see.
