Changing out my fuel pump - How do I know if my Fuel Accumulator is working?
I'm swapping out the fuel pump on my CGT. The thing sounds like a swarm of hornets. You can hear it from across a parking lot. The thing that really bothered me was that the sound + volume of it changed. It be buzzing along, then suddenly the pitch would change. It was like buzzzzzzBUUUZZzzzzzZZzzbuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Plus I got a new one pretty cheap with PMC's $10 off deal they just ran.
So anyhow. Got the whole thing out - what a PITA. The acumulator is pretty nasty looking - rusty... Do these things go bad? I mean - The car has been running awesome, no starting problems etc... But OTOH this thing is nasty...

Accumulator keeps residual pressure in the fuel lines, to help the ...............
engine start, first thing in the mornings.
If it was bad, you would have to hit the key several times to start, as you would need to build up fuel pressure from the pump to the injectors. Accumulator holds this pressure.
Known as "block line pressure". ;O)
