Cold Air Intake?

I realize that Audi didn't take much time in designing the box for the air filter because it is a pain to replace the air filter. There are also no cold air intakes for them either so what I have planned to do is just remove the air filter from the box and put a cone on the end of the tubing where it gets air from. Sound like a good idea? or you think it won't help much?

Well, all's I know is using a cone on the INSIDE of the engine bay actually decreases power because once the temperatures climb the air gets less dense. I dunno about putting the cone on the end however. Someone told me a while back to drill some 1" holes in the airbox before the filter, but it doesn't seem to help much.

Well the thing is the cone wouldn't be near any heat in the engine bay. It be getting air from the same place as the normal setup just you'd be getting more air.

Plus I fabricated my own by running a 3" hose to my airbox lower half, on my 86' Coupe GT!
Worked like a champ!
